Nashik witnessed a tragic incident in Bethel Nagar on Sharanpur Road, where a 17-year-old girl, Ashley Sathe, took her own life after her boyfriend allegedly refused to marry her. The Sarkarwada police have arrested 19-year-old Vedant Patil (resident of CIDCO) in connection with the case.

Broken Promises Lead to Tragedy

Ashley had been living with her aunt, Manisha Bhalerao, since childhood. Over the past year, she was in a relationship with Vedant Patil. However, in recent days, tensions between them had increased.

According to the police complaint, Ashley found out that Vedant was involved with another girl and confronted him about it. The dispute escalated, and Vedant allegedly assaulted her in front of others. Deeply hurt and distressed, Ashley confided in her aunt, sharing her pain over the betrayal.

On Friday (March 28) around noon, Ashley was found hanging in her home. The tragic step is believed to be the result of emotional turmoil caused by her troubled relationship.

Family Knew About the Relationship

Ashley and Vedant had been together for some time, frequently meeting and spending time together. Her aunt was aware of their relationship, and Vedant had assured the family that they would get married. Ashley’s mother had advised them to wait until she turned 18 before making any decisions about marriage.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Following the complaint, the Sarkarwada police detained Vedant Patil on Saturday (March 29). The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are probing the circumstances that led to Ashley’s death.

This incident highlights the emotional vulnerability of young relationships and raises concerns about mental health awareness among teenagers.
