2 Indians on Diamond Princess ship affected by coronavirus

Even as two Indian crew of the Diamond Princess ship requested the Indian government to evacuate the Ind in the ship, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday said two Indian crew members have tested positive for Coronavirus.

Chennai, Feb 13 Even as two Indian crew of the Diamond Princess ship requested the Indian government to evacuate the Ind in the ship, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday said two Indian crew members have tested positive for Coronavirus.

In a tweet Jaishankar said: "2 Indian crew members have tested positive for #Coronavirus. Will keep you updated."

In another tweet he said: "Our Embassy @IndianEmbTokyo is in constant touch with the crew & passengers of #DiamondPrincess off Yokohama, Japan, rendering all necessary support & assistance. Passengers & crew are currently quarantined by Japanese authorities."

On Wednesday, an Indian crew member Anbalagan hailing from Tamil Nadu in a whatsApp video said: "We need help and we are all scared. Six members of the crew were infected with Coronavirus."

The cruise ship is quarantined off the coast of Yokohama in Japan.
