Patna, March 27 The 209th session of the Bihar Legislative Council concluded on Thursday, with Chairman Avadhesh Narayan Singh announcing the indefinite adjournment of the House.
The session witnessed significant activity, including the passage of four key bills and the handling of a large volume of questions and notices.
During the Budget session, four bills, including the Bihar Appropriation Bill, 2025, Bihar Appropriation (No 2) Bill, 2025, Bihar Wood Based (Establishment and Regulation) Bill, 2025 and Bihar Cooperative Society (Amendment) Bill, 2025, were passed by the Bihar Legislative Council.
A total of 18 meetings were held during the Budget session, with a total of 1485 questions received. Among them, 1300 questions were accepted, and the remaining 185 questions were rejected by the House.
The chairman pointed out that 377 questions were answered in the House. He also said that 1069 questions were received through the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) and 925 were accepted and sent to departments.
At least 433 questions were received on short notice, and 387 were accepted and sent to departments. Around 289 short-notice questions were answered in the House.
The chairman recommended that pending questions from the current session be tabled in the next session.
A total of 216 notices of ‘Attention’ were received in those 18 meetings in the Budget session, 114 were approved, and 74 were answered in the House. Around 29 questions were transferred to the Committee for consideration.
During the Zero Hour, 174 notices were received and 112 were addressed in the House. At least 48 notices were rejected and 14 notices lapsed.
Bihar Legislative Council is also known as the Upper House, and the bills and notices come after they are passed in the Legislative Assembly.
The session saw active participation from the members, with various departments responding to the concerns and queries raised.
