According to the details, security forces had a specific input about the presence of terrorists in the Reban village in Shopian.

A cordon was laid in the village by a joint team of the army and police on Sunday morning.

As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where the terrorists were hiding they came under fire that triggered the encounter.
