300 delegates to take part in Meghalaya's North East Food Show

More than 300 delegates from across India and abroad will assemble in this mountainous state capital of Meghalaya to provide a platform to the northeast agro and food processing industry to tap national and global markets through an intensive focus on networking and business relationship development.

Billed as the biggest congregation of global investors and business leaders of major food companies, the North East Food Show 2019, which will start on Wednesday and go on till December 6, will focus on creating a global platform to 'Inspire Food Business' for this part of the country.

Exhibitors from Mexico, Costa Rica Japan, Argentina, United Kingdom, Georgia, Chile and Bangladesh among others will participate in the event.

The event is being hosted by the Meghalaya government in collaboration with the SIAL Group, the world's largest food innovation network with over 50 years of global food innovation experience.

"We have almost 300 delegates and participants from different countries and parts of India attending the North East Food Show. It will be a very exciting show and the entire programme is going to be something which will completely change the way we see food processing sector and food industries as a whole in the northeast," Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said.

He said entrepreneurs, chefs, farmers, technology providers and government officials will be participating in the three-day event.

Moreover, buyers from the food & beverage industry like Purchasing Professionals Forum-India (PPFI), Forum of Indian Food Importers (FIFI), international trade delegations are also going to be part of the event.

The highlight of the event will be the Chief Minister's Conclave that will be hosted by the Meghalaya Chief Minister together with his counterparts from the other northeastern states to deliberate on the topic "Charting of a new Course for the North East through Food Processing and Supply Chain Management".

The North-East Food Show will also be the platform for the NEFS Chef Wars - a platform for chefs to showcase their culinary skills and judged by celebrity chefs from the Indian Culinary Forum (ICF) and the faculty of the Institute of Hotel Management, Shillong.
