32 CBI officers get President's Police Medal

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Joint Director involved in the Saradha chit fund scam probe are among 32 CBI officers who have been awarded President's Police Medal and Police Medal on the Independence Day.

Only two Indian Police Service (IPS) officers figured in the list of awardees announced on Wednesday.

The CBI said the President's Police Medals for distinguished service have been awarded to eight officers, while Police Medals for meritorious service have been awarded to 24 other officers.

The winners of the President's Medal for distinguished service included Pankaj Kumar Srivastava, Joint Director, Kolkata and Prashant Kumar Pande, SP, CBI, posted in Jabalpur (MP).

According to the CBI, Srivastava, a 1992 batch IPS officer posted in Kolkata, has received the award for his work in solving the Saradha chit fund scam puzzle. The Rs 10,000 crore Saradha scam came to light in April 2013.

Prashant Kumar, an SP posted with the CBI's anti-corruption bureau in Jabalpur and Ravi Gambhir, an ASP posted in Delhi, also received the award. CBI inspectors Sanjay Kumar posted in Delhi, Bailur Satish Prabhu posted in anti-corruption branch in Hyderabad, also got the President's Medal for distinguished service.

Amar Singh and Kusum Pal Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspectors posted in the CBI anti-corruption branch in Delhi and head constable Krishan Pal Singh, posted in Economic Offences branch in the national capital were also selected for the distinguished service.

The President's police medals for meritorious service have been awarded to Vivek Priyadarshi, AIG (Policy), posted in Delhi; Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Satish Chander Dandriyal posted in Delhi; ASP Ranjan Kumar Sethy posted in the national capital; Indumohan Singh Negi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) posted in anti-corruption branch in Dehradun; Mukesh Sharma, DSP, posted in Delhi; Himanshu Bahuguna, DSP, posted in economic offences wing in Delhi; Rajender Singh Gunjiyal, DSP posted in anti-corruption branch in Chandigarh.

The President's police medals for meritorious service have also been awarded to Sambhaji Nivruttii Murkute, CBI Inspector posted in Mumbai; Sushil Goel, Inspector psoted in Delhi; S. Sreemathi, Inspector, CBI, posted in Delhi; Pawan Kumar Kaushik, Inspector, posted in Delhi; Rathin Kumar Das, Sub-Inspector, posted in West Bengal's Kolkata; Chichula Kanta Rao, ASI, posted in anti-corruption branch in Bhubanbesar; Ranjeet Singh Bisht, ASI, posted in Delhi; Bhuwan Chandra Kapri, ASI, posted in Delhi; Mutum Ramo Singh, ASI, posted in anti-corruption branch in Imphal; Chandrasekharan Pillai, Head Constable, posted in anti-corruption in Cochin; Dushyant Singh, Head Constable, posted at anti-corruption branch in Delhi; Madan Ram, Head Constable, posted in Delhi; Abhijit Sen, Head Constable, posted in Kolkata; Dhir Singh, Head Constable posted in ACB in Gandninagar; Mahesh Chandra Yadav, Constable, posted in CBI Academy in Ghaziabad; Ajay Kumar Bali, Constable, posted in ASCB Jammu; and Aruna Mohan, Office Superintendent, posted in ACB in Bengaluru.
