51 fugitives committed fraud worth Rs 17,900 crore

More than 51 fugitives namely Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi have committed fraud worth Rs 17,900 crore in total. The opposition has strongly criticized the Modi government. But Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya aren't the only ones who have left the country. As per the reports from Centre, a total of 51 people have been absconding from the country. 

Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur in the Rajya Sabha made reference to the report of the Central Bureau of Investigation and gave information about those who fled the country. Thakur said that there were 51 absconders and procliamed criminals have fled to other countries in 66 cases.

Charges have been filed in the Directorate of Police and CBI courts in these cases and an inquiry is underway, said Thakur.CBI efforts are underway to bring back the accused who have fled the country. He said that the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and the Customs Department have reported six accused of financial abduction. The Enforcement Directorate has filed a charge sheet against the 10 accused, and eight of them have been issued against Interpol in the Red Corner Notice, Thakur said.
