Atishi, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, accused the government of preventing elected lawmakers from entering the Vidhan Sabha for the first time, calling it a "black day" for Indian democracy.

"Today marks a dark chapter in our democracy. Never before have elected MLAs been barred from the Vidhan Sabha with police force and barricades," she stated, referring to the suspension of AAP MLAs.

She highlighted that the Aam Aadmi Party protested after the BJP allegedly replaced Ambedkar's portrait with that of Prime Minister Modi. "The BJP is shaken because we are chanting slogans in Babasaheb Ambedkar's name. They cannot silence the 'Jai Bheem' slogans that will resonate throughout the city," said Atishi.

She also mentioned that she had written to the President, requesting a meeting to discuss the "undemocratic, unconstitutional, and illegal actions" taken by the BJP.

Earlier, after being denied entry to the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Atishi and other AAP MLAs protested outside the Assembly, holding 'Jai Bhim' placards and denouncing the actions as "undemocratic and unconstitutional."

Speaking to ANI, Atishi said, "Police have informed us that we are suspended from the assembly and cannot enter the premises. This is unprecedented in our history... Even in Parliament, suspended members can protest under the Gandhi statue. How can we be barred from entry? We attempted to speak with the Speaker, but to no avail."

Tensions rose in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday when Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 12 AAP MLAs, including Atishi and Gopal Rai, amid uproar before the CAG report was presented.
