Bhopal, Oct 26 Former Madhya Pradesh minister Jaivardhan Singh, who is contesting the November 17 Assembly elections from his family bastion Raghogarh in Guna district, filed his nomination on Thursday accompanied by his six-year-old son Sahasra Singh and father and two-time former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh.

Enroute the nomination centre in a large convoy of vehicles, the royal family of Raghogarh received warm welcome all through the way. The supporters were seen rushing to catch a glimpse of the family as they headed towards the district magistrate’s office.

When Jaivardhan handed over his nomination paper to the magistrate, his son Sahasra Singh could also be seen holding the same.

Interestingly, Sahara Singh has already started attending public gatherings and delivering speeches. Recently, he even surprised his grandfather Digvijaya Singh with his public speech on the occasion of Kevat Jayanti.

Digvijaya Singh had then posted his grandson’s video on his social media handle with the message: “My grandson Sahasrajya seems to have gone ahead of his father and grandfather!! We had never even thought of giving a speech at this age."

Balbhadra Singh, who was the 12th ruler of then Princely state Raghogarh, was elected a member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1952. His son Digvijaya Sigh also won several elections from his ancestral seat, and now his son Jaivardhan Singh is representing the constituency since 2013.

In 2018, Jaivardhan had defeated BJP’s Bhupendra Singh Raghuvanshi by a margin of 46,697 votes. He was the Urban Development and Housing Minister in the Kamal Nath-led Congress government that was toppled within 15 months.
