Last week, in a similar incident in Surat massive fire broke out at a textile factory and spread to a plastic manufacturing plant in Sachin’s Hojiwala area. The fire occurred at Platinum International Textile Mills, located on Road No. 17 in the Sachin Hojiwala area. It is learned that a blast in the DP (distribution panel) of DGVCL triggered a short circuit, igniting a large quantity of yarn in the textile mill. The fire quickly spread to the adjacent Parth Plastic Company, producing thick smoke visible from 7–8 km away. More than five fire brigade vehicles from Hojiwala Fire Station rushed to the spot and are working to douse the flames. Fortunately, since it was a Holi holiday, no workers were present, and no casualties were reported. According to Rasikbhai, the manager of Platinum International, a short circuit following an explosion in DGVCL’s DP ignited the fire. Due to the presence of highly flammable plastic and yarn, the fire spread rapidly. Fire Officer Vasant Suryavanshi stated that firefighting operations are underway, and cooling work has begun. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
