Air India Among Several Flights Grounded After Hoax Bomb Threats on Social Media

Several Indian flights were grounded on Tuesday after receiving bomb threats on social media platform X, previously known as Twitter. Among the affected flights was an Air India flight headed from Delhi to Chicago.

Security agencies issued alerts and initiated emergency landings for all threatened aircraft after the bomb threats were reported. A total of five Indian flights received messages threatening the presence of bombs on X. The threats were later declared hoaxes.

Following these threats, security agencies launched anti-terrorist operations at several airports. Sources revealed that one of the threatened flights was scheduled to travel to the United States.

On Monday, three international flights departing from Mumbai had also received bomb threats, causing significant inconvenience to hundreds of passengers and crew members. However, further investigation revealed these threats to be false.  

The five flights targeted on X included Air India Express flight IX765 from Jaipur to Ayodhya and then to Bengaluru, SpiceJet flight SG116 from Darbhanga to Mumbai, Akasa Air flight QP 1373 from Siliguri to Bengaluru, and Air India flight AI 127 from Delhi to Chicago.  

Meanwhile, the Air India Express flight underwent security checks at Ayodhya airport.
