A suspected improvised explosive device blast took place in Laleali in the Akhnoor sector during a routine fence patrol. Two soldiers lost their lives in the explosion. The explosion occurred around 3:30 p.m. during a routine patrol in the Battal area near the Line of Control (LoC). The injured soldier is undergoing treatment, and his condition is critical. Following the blast, security forces launched a search operation in the area and sealed off the entire region.

The Nagrota-based White Knight Corps confirmed the incident in a post on X, “Suspected Improvised Explosive Device blast reported in #Laleali in #Akhnoor Sector during a fence patrol resulting in two fatalities. Own troops are dominating the area and search #operations are underway. White Knight Corps salutes and pays tribute to the supreme sacrifice of two gallant soldiers."

Earlier on Tuesday, security forces found a mortar shell in the same area. The Army's bomb disposal squad safely defused it. According to officials, local residents spotted the shell near Pratap Canal in Namandar village around 10 a.m. and alerted authorities.
