A sugarcane juice vendor earning Rs 500 to Rs 600 per day was left stunned after receiving an income tax notice demanding Rs 7.8 crore in unpaid taxes. The vendor, identified as Rais Ahmed, runs a small juice stall in Aligarh. When he received the notice, he was shocked and immediately rushed to the local income tax to seek clarification.

Officials informed Ahmed those large financial transactions had been conducted using his PAN card. However, he denied making any such transactions.

Nain Singh, an officer from the Aligarh Income Tax Department, advised Ahmed to file a police complaint if his PAN card had been misused. Following this advice, Ahmed registered a complaint at the Civil Lines police station. The police have now launched an investigation into the matter.

The incident has left Ahmad deeply distressed as he struggles to understand how such a large tax liability was linked to his name.
