A truck broke a railway gate near Nihalgarh in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh in the early hours of Tuesday, March 18, colliding with a goods train on the Lucknow-Sultanpur track. The accident damaged the engine, electric lines, and poles, injuring the truck driver. Both rail and road traffic were disrupted, and diversions were implemented.

DRM of Lucknow Division, S.M. Sharma, said, "The truck got stuck at the level crossing gate, and by the time the train arrived, it collided with it."

According to reports, the train dragged the truck for about 100 meters after the collision. Workers are currently engaged in restoring traffic on the track, repairing the damaged railway line, and removing the truck from the site.

Railway safety and security officers, along with officials from the Northern Railway Division, Lucknow, are present at the scene. The Rae Bareli highway has been blocked on both sides since the accident, prompting authorities to implement diversions. Vehicles coming from Ayodhya have been rerouted from Raniganj to Warisganj on the Lucknow-Varanasi highway.

Meanwhile, vehicles travelling from Rae Bareli, Sultanpur, and Pratapgarh to Ayodhya Dham have been stopped at Jagdishpur intersection and Shri Ramganj intersection and are being directed through alternate routes.
