A gas leak at an ice factory in Jalandhar, Punjab, killed one person on Saturday. According to regional media reports, the incident occurred around 2 p.m. near the Damoria flyover when ammonia gas began leaking from the factory. Two factory workers were trapped in the gas cloud; one was rescued but the other died from suffocation.

As a precautionary measure, police sealed off the surrounding areas and diverted traffic away from the flyover. The area will remain cordoned off until the gas is completely cleared.

Residents reported feeling suffocated up to a kilometer away from the incident. According to media reports, police closed several areas, including Jalandhar railway station, Main Hira Gate, Henry petrol pump, and Damoria underbridge. Traffic is being diverted through the Damoria flyover as a precaution.
