Amaravati, April 16 Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday directed officials to make efforts to achieve 15 per cent growth rate.
He asked them to implement both micro and macro-level planning strategies to achieve the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) targets.
He emphasised the need for short-, medium, and long-term planning to attain optimal productivity levels across sectors.
During a review meeting of Finance department, the Chief Minister stressed that field-level execution is critical to achieve the targeted 15 percent growth rate. He instructed officials to ensure effective implementation of these plans down to the grassroots level, according to Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
The CM noted that the state is already providing essential resources such as water and electricity to agriculture sector and industries, and called for focused efforts to further enhance productivity.
Despite financial constraints, the government has not increased electricity tariffs and is also bearing an additional burden of Rs 4,600 crore arising from decisions taken by the previous administration, he said.
The Chief Minister directed revenue-generating departments to meet their targets without imposing any burden on the public. He highlighted that completion of key projects like Amaravati and Polavaram would significantly boost wealth creation in the state.
He assured that there is no shortage of funds for priority projects and that, with the support of the Central Government, these projects will be completed to accelerate development. He asked the officials to utilise central government schemes including Purvodaya and Sasci schemes to take up development projects.
The Chief Minister reiterated that welfare schemes will be implemented in line with the welfare calendar. He further directed officials to focus on securing funds due to the state under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
Criticising the previous government for shutting down Anna Canteens, he said that despite challenges, the current government is providing meals to poor through 269 Anna Canteens across the state.
He also emphasized the need for improving efficiency and simplifying procedures across government departments to attract investments and enhance revenue.
Minister for Finance Payyavula Keshav, Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad, Principal Secretary, Finance, Piyush Kumar and other senior officials attended the review meeting.
