Andhra Pradesh: 50-year-old woman dies in elephant attack in Kallikota village

A woman died in an elephant attack on Thursday in Andhra Pradesh's Pata Kallikota village of Vizianagaram district.

A woman died in an elephant attack on Thursday in Andhra Pradesh's Pata Kallikota village of Vizianagaram district.

According to Komarada sub-inspector Gnana Prasad, the victim has been identified as Allada Appamma.

"This morning Allada Appamma, age 50 years old, went to her agricultural field to fetch vegetables when an elephant hit her around 5:30 am. When the elephant stumped, Appamma died on the spot. Her body is shifted to Parvatipuram area hospital," said Prasad.

Police and forest officials went to the spot immediately, while forest department officials are trying to trace out the elephant.

Police have also a registered the case under Section 174 of the CrPC and are investigating the matter.
