Another anti-CAA protester dies, 3rd in a month

Another woman protester at the anti-CAA protest site at Clock Tower here, died on Wednesday night. She is the third women protester to have died during the protest which has been on since January 17.

Lucknow, March 12 Another woman protester at the anti-CAA protest site at Clock Tower here, died on Wednesday night. She is the third women protester to have died during the protest which has been on since January 17.

According to reports, Shamsunnisa, 55, had been admitted to the hospital after she got drenched in the rains last Friday.

"She fell ill after getting drenched in the rains. The local administration had refused to let us put up tents at the site and all women were sitting in the open when the hailstorm lashed the state capital," said a co-protester.

Shamsunnisa was a widow and has six sons who work as daily wagers.

Earlier on Sunday, an anti-CAA protester at the Clock Tower had died of a cardiac arrest in a city hospital. Farida, 55, had got drenched in rain on Friday and was admitted to a hospital after she fell ill.

This was the second death of a protester in the past one month.

Another protester, 20-year-old Tayyaba, (a BA final student) had died under similar circumstances on February 23. She had succumbed to illness after getting soaked in the rain, said the protesters.
