Earlier on Thursday while disposing of another petition regarding coronavirus, directed the Centre to contact Indian students in Iran and give them assurance in the wake of coronavirus.

Justice Navin Chawla also directed the government to submit a status report mentioning if any policy has been formulated and steps taken to evacuate Ind from Iran. The court also observed that issuing advisory will not work and people who stayed abroad need proper assurance.

The petition filed by parents of Indian students who are studying in Iran through social justice lawyer Fozia Rahman stated that though the Indian students in Iran have not been affected, there is still a life threat due to the spread of coronavirus and hence, they should return to their home country.

The petitioner had sought to ensure the safety of Indian students studying in Iran.
