Army chief visits Jaisalmer wellness centre for coronavirus

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General M.M. Naravane has reviewed the army wellness centre, set up at Jaisalmer to facilitate the fight against Covid-19, during his two-day visit of the Jaisalmer Military Station, starting Tuesday.

Jaipur, March 18 Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General M.M. Naravane has reviewed the army wellness centre, set up at Jaisalmer to facilitate the fight against Covid-19, during his two-day visit of the Jaisalmer Military Station, starting Tuesday.

General Naravane was accompanied by Lieutenant General C.P. Mohanty, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, said Col Sombit Ghosh, PRO Defence Rajasthan, here on Wednesday.

Evacuated from Iran, 118 men and 171 women are being kept in isolation at this facility, which is equipped with all facilities to make their stay comfortable.

Women and men have been kept in different barracks as per their age groups. A team of medical staff has been deployed at the centre to monitor the residents.

All rooms have been provided with television and indoor and outdoor sports facilities have also been made available. The centre has been isolated with jawans deployed for round the clock security.

The army Chief lauded the efforts by the Southern Command and especially the Konark Corps for helping the civil administration in taking care of the evacuated Indian nationals.

The COAS also visited the border areas and reviewed the operational readiness of the army along the western borders, Col Ghosh said.
