Municipality authorities on Wednesday found about Rs 2,60,000 cash from the hut of an 70-year-old woman beggar in Nowshera, Rajouri in Jammu and Kashimr.

Authorities on Tuesday took possession of the recovered cash from the temporary shelter of a homeless beggar woman in Rajouri's Nowshera area.

A total of Rs 2,58,507 were recovered from her shelter.

Municipality authorities had sent a team to check the shelter of teh woman and to take her belongings, that is when the employees sent on the spot recovered three plastic boxes and one jute bag containing coins and notes of different denominations..

"Soon after coming to know about this incident, I headed a team that reached on the spot and entire currency was taken into possession after which counting of currency started that continued for over five hours," he said. "A total of Rs 2,58,507 were recovered."

Sambyal said that they had shifted all the currency notes and coins in government treasury Nowshera and kept it in safe custody to hand over the entire amount to the woman.
