AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, who has been constantly protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), has given a befitting reply to the statement given by Home Minister Amit Shah. Opposing the National Population Register (NPR), Owaisi from the news agency ANI said, "Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM: Why is Home Minister misleading the nation? In Parliament he said 'Owaisi ji NRC will be implemented in the whole country'. Amit Shah sahab, as long as the sun keeps rising from the east we will keep telling the truth. NPR is the first step towards NRC".

Earlier, Owaisi had said that NPR is another name of NRC. On this statement of Owaisi, Home Minister Amit Shah took a dig at him in an interview with ANI. Amit Shah said that if we say that the sun rises in the east, then he will say no… no, it rises in the west. This is his stand and I am not surprised at all. Still I assure them that it has nothing to do with NRC, it is a very different process.
