The Assam government has taken a decision to to give financial incentives to students to bring them back to schools and colleges to attend classes regularly. The state government has decided to give girl students Rs 100 for every day they attend schools, informed state Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

As per the decision of the state government, every girl student going to school in Assam will get Rs 100 per day for attending classes. According to the agency's report, the decision is being taken to promote girls' education, said Assam Education Minister Himant Biswa Sarma.

State education minister while speaking to reporters said that the state government will deposit Rs 1500 and Rs 2000 respectively for undergraduate and postgraduate students in their bank accounts by the end of this month so that the students can use the money to buy books. 

As per TOI report, the state government had planned to implement this scheme last year but due COVID-19 pandemic it got delayed.
