Guwahati, Oct 24 A 12-year-old boy in Assam's Dhubri district jumped into a river after he was disappointed for not getting new clothes on Durga Puja, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident happened in Golakganj area on Monday and the minor boy was identified as Suman Roy, is a student of class 8 at Gaikhowa Gandhigram Middle School .

The boy's family revealed that he was in a condition of despondency as a result of his disappointment.

Suman made the dramatic decision to plunge into the Gadadhar River due to this fact, shocking everyone around him.

The police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel arrived at the location after receiving information from nearby homeowners and immediately initiated rescue efforts.

Unfortunately, the boy still remains missing.

Superintendent of Police in Dhubri district, Navin Singh told IANS that efforts are still underway to find the missing boy.
