Stones were allegedly pelted during the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti Procession, on the birth anniversary of the Maratha warrior, in Karnataka's Bagalkot area on Thursday evening, February 19. The police two stones were thrown from a mosque struck cops.
Giving details on the incident, Superintendent of Police (SP), Siddharth Goyal said the incident occurred between 3 pm and 3:30 pm when the procession carryingthe Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti portrait arrived near the mosque.

"When the procession began around 3–3:30 PM, we were there with sufficient force and devices. As the procession approached the mosque, two stones were thrown from a distance toward us," said Siddharth Goyal.
Goyal said police check CCTV footage surrounding in the area and videos recorded by the police themselves, and action will be taken.
"According to the information and videos we have reviewed so far, one stone hit a police constable, and the other hit my shoulder. No one sustained any major injuries. After that, the procession continued smoothly, and the atmosphere remained peaceful," Goyal added further.
The stones were allegedly pelted near Panka Masjid. Three pushcarts in the vegetable market were also set on fire. Police carried out a mild lathi-charge to disperse the crowd, and tight security measures were implemented, according to the news agency IANS.
