On the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, banks and other financial institutions will remain closed in several states, including Maharashtra. Every year, on February 19, Shiv Jayanti is celebrated across India with a public holiday.

According to the calendar, Wednesday, February 19, will be a holiday in Maharashtra. The bank holiday also mentioned in the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) calendar. However, internet banking, ATM and other online transaction facilities will continue to be available.

Bank Holiday On February 20

Banks in Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh will remain closed on February 20, 2025 to celebrate the anniversary of their statehood. On Thursday, Arunachal Pradesh formation day as the territory got its statehood on February 20, 1987, after being moved from the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) through the 53rd Amendment of the Indian Constitution. Similarly, Mizoram, which was earlier a Union Territory, was granted full statehood on February 20, 1997, also through the 53rd Amendment.

According to the RBI calendar for February 2025, there are eight bank holidays in total. Some holidays are national, and some are state-specific. Check out the list of holidays in this month. 

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti: February 19 (Maharashtra)

Statehood Day/State Day: February 20 (Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh)

Mahashivratri: February 26 (Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana).

Losar - February 28 (Sikkim): In addition to the public holiday, banks across India remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays and all the Sundays of the month.
