Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh (February 16, 2025): Four people, including a woman, were killed and six others injured after a tempo-traveller collided with a bus on the Purvanchal Expressway in Barabanki district on Sunday.

The bus was coming from Chhattisgarh and the tempo-traveller from Maharashtra, both heading towards Ayodhya. All the deceased and injured were in the tempo-traveller. The police suspect the accident occurred when the tempo-traveller driver fell asleep at the wheel.

According to reports, the rescue teams used a cutter to extricate people trapped in the vehicle. Two injured passengers were taken to a trauma centre in Lucknow, while four others are being treated at the district hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for autopsy.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Kumar Singh said, "A bus broke down on its way to Ayodhya from Chhattisgarh and was being repaired. A traveller, also going towards Ayodhya, crashed into the bus. 3 people died on the spot in the traveller, while one died on the way to. Passengers are being dispatched by other vehicles. The seriously injured ones are being sent to Trauma Centre."
