Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh (April 1, 2025): A violent clash broke out between two communities in Bareilly on Monday, March 31, 2025. Reports suggest that sticks, rods, and stones were used during the confrontation. There were also reports of gunfire. However, the police have denied the firing claims. The police say the incident is related to a love affair. The altercation took place in the Mundia Ahmed Nagar area under the Izzat Nagar police station. During the clash, it was alleged that three people were shot inside a house. One group claimed that gunshots were fired, but this has not been confirmed. Several people were injured in the stone pelting, though no fatalities have been reported.
Police officials said a young man from one community ran away with a girl from another. This led to a dispute between the two groups. Superintendent of Police (SP) City, Manush Parikh, clarified the situation. ""On 31st March 2025, information was received about a fight in Muria Ahmednagar village. On reaching the spot, the police team found that two parties, who had earlier had a dispute over a love affair, got into a fight in which four people from one side were injured, and one person from the other side was injured. A rumour was spread that there was an incident of firing and some people were shot, this is completely wrong. None of the injured have suffered a fire injury, and there was no firing incident," he said.
"There are already 2 Pradhans in this village who belong to the same community. There has been a rivalry between them regarding the 'Pradhani', and both of them encouraged one party each. Strict action will be taken against all those who are involved. They will be identified and strict action will be taken against them. There is complete peace in this village now. Security forces have been deployed here, and further legal action will be taken by filing a case... There was a tension between two different communities for a few months regarding a love affair and today there was a fight between them regarding the same," he added.
