Amid deteriorating weather conditions as an impact of approaching very severe cyclonic storm Bulbul, West Bengal on Saturday remained peaceful and calm after the Supreme Court judgement on Ayodhya case.

Amid rains and cloudy sky in the state's southern districts, the streets had a vacant look with most of the schools remaining closed as a precautionary measure in view of the Bulbul related apprehensions, that also prompted many office-goers and service providers to remain indoors.

Police sources said there were no reports of any untoward incidents, but security was tight to prevent any breach of peace.

But many Hindus seemed happy at the turn of events.

"It is a question of national pride. The court verdict is proper and just," said a shopkeeper in Bijoygarh in south Kolkata.

Hours after the apex court verdict giving the 2.77 acre disputed land in Ayodhya to the Hindus and asking the government to give alternate land to the Sunni Waqf Board, which was a party to the title suit, the Trinamool Congress or its supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were yet to react to the development.

On Thursday, after an extended core committee meeting, Banerjee had told the media that only she, and "no one else", will comment on the verdict when it comes.

Baneerjee, one of the quickest among the country's political leaders to take to Twitter on any important issue, has not posted anything on social media so far.

Some leaders called by either did not take call or refused to comment.

The Trinamool's silence triggered sniggers from the BJP.

"The Trinamool remains silent whenever there is an issue concerning Indian culture, pride and tradition. They are mum on national right issues also. They were even practically silent on the surgical strikes, and the Pulwama terror attack.

"It is difficult for those people to react on these kind of developments Aas they are only obsessed with political spin-offs," said state BJP President Dilip Ghosh.
