Dozens of passengers had a narrow escape in the early hours of Friday, February 6, after a private luxury bus hit an electric pole and burst into flames on the Tumkur–Bengaluru National Highway (NH-48) near Nelamangala, Bengaluru.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 AM near the Hanumanthapura–Kerekathiganur gate in Nelamangala taluk. The bus, operated by ‘Sanjana Travels’, was en route from Bengaluru to Kalaburagi with approximately 40 passengers on board when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Intitial investigations suggest that the bus was navigating a stretch of the highway currently undergoing construction work. Reports indicate the vehicle was moving at a reduced speed when it veered off course, mounted a footpath, and struck an electric pole maintained by BESCOM.
