Bengaluru Power Cut: Multiple Localities Witness Overnight Blackout, Normal Life Disrupted

Several neighbourhoods across Bengaluru witnessed prolonged power outages during the early hours of May 18, triggering frustration among residents who took to social media to demand answers from the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM). Residents from areas including HSR Layout Sector 4, Arekere, Vijaya Bank Layout and the Anekal-Chandapura Road stretch reported electricity disruptions lasting several hours overnight. Many users tagged BESCOM on social media platforms, seeking immediate restoration of power supply.

According to reports, one resident posted around 3:15 am stating that electricity had been unavailable since 1 am and claimed that such outages had become a recurring issue in parts of South Bengaluru. The resident expressed concern over repeated disruptions affecting daily life almost regularly. Meanwhile, another resident from HSR Layout Sector 4 alleged that the locality had been without electricity since around 9 pm on May 17, with power supply still not restored even after 3 am. Several others joined the online discussion, repeatedly asking BESCOM officials for updates regarding restoration work and expected timelines.

As complaints continued to mount online, BESCOM responded by stating that the issue had been escalated to the concerned subdivision offices. The electricity utility provider assured residents that restoration work was underway and that power supply would be restored at the earliest. Additional complaints also surfaced from the Anekal-Chandapura Road area, where residents reported overnight outages and interruptions to regular electricity supply. BESCOM later confirmed that complaint dockets had been officially registered and forwarded to the relevant subdivision teams for necessary action.
