In a tragic incident, a woman was found hanging at her residence while her four minor daughters were discovered dead in a nearby well in Sagar district, police said. According to police officials, the bodies of the girls were recovered from the well located close to their house. The woman’s body was found hanging inside the home. Authorities reached the spot after being alerted about the incident and launched an investigation. The exact circumstances surrounding the deaths are yet to be ascertained, police added.
A similar tragic incident had occurred earlier in the district in 2024 within the limits of the Deori Police Station. In that case, three women and a girl from the same family were found dead inside a well. Police had said two of the deceased, who were sisters, were found hanging from ropes tied to a nearby wooden pole inside the well, while their mother and the daughter of one of them were found floating in the water. Initial interrogation by the police with the family members revealed that there was a dispute between the family members.
