Some villagers brutally beat ASI Vijay Kumar of Phulkaha police station to death. The incident took place late at night when the police reached Laxmipur village in Araria, Bihar, to arrest a criminal, Anmol Yadav. The villagers attacked the police to free the accused.

Following the incident, the officer’s body was taken to Araria Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The SP confirmed that the police officer died due to a scuffle while trying to prevent the criminal’s escape.

"During the altercation, ASI Vijay Kumar fell down and he was declared dead at the hospital. 3-4 people detained; further investigation underway," DSP said.

"We had got information about criminal Anmol Yadav attending a wedding function. The police went there and arrested him, but the local villagers entered into an altercation with the police, and they managed to release Anmol Yadav," said DSP Forbesganj Mukesh Kumar Saha.

According to reports, the police had received information that a criminal Yadav from Narpatganj was expected to arrive in Phulkaha for a wedding. Acting on this tip-off, the police reached the location to lay a trap and successfully apprehended him. However, a large crowd of villagers gathered to free the accused. Amid the chaos, a scuffle broke out, during which ASI Rajiv Kumar suffered serious injuries and collapsed. He later succumbed to his injuries.
