With the Bihar Assembly elections set to take place later this year, political parties have already begun their preparations. In this backdrop, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has made a strong statement on Instagram, assuring that if his party comes to power at the Centre, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be removed—regardless of their victory.
Yadav also launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission, alleging that it has failed to address the opposition’s concerns regarding EVMs. “Forget being a referee or umpire, the Election Commission is not even a spectator anymore—it has become the BJP’s cheerleader,” he said.
He further claimed that the Election Commission is becoming a "cancer for democracy and the Constitution." Referring to the 2020 Bihar Assembly election results, Yadav accused the Commission of irregularities, stating that three press conferences were held on the day of the results, vote counting was halted for five hours, and the final results were declared at 2 AM, raising doubts about EVM credibility.
In addition to election-related concerns, Yadav also criticized the Bihar government’s handling of crime, highlighting that 137 criminal incidents were reported in January alone. His Instagram post included a symbol of two drops of blood, emphasizing the issue of rising crime in the state.
