Patna, May 9 A serious incident has emerged from Muzaffarpur involving alleged death threats to BJP MLA Ranjan Kumar.

The legislator has submitted a written complaint to the Mithanpura Police Station, seeking registration of an FIR and strict legal action.

According to Ranjan Kumar, misleading and defamatory posts were being circulated on social media to damage his image.

He alleged that when he objected to these posts, he received threats of being killed with an AK-47 rifle.

In his complaint, he has named Mukund Kumar and another youth from the Patahi area as the accused.

The MLA stated that Mukund Kumar had been continuously sharing objectionable content related to the Muzaffarpur Assembly constituency and had allegedly misused his photographs to malign his reputation.

Following this, the MLA—along with supporters—visited the accused’s residence to confront him over the issue.

During the interaction, the situation reportedly escalated.

The MLA claims that Mukund Kumar became aggressive, used abusive language, and physically assaulted them.

He further alleged that the accused claimed to have a criminal background, including prior imprisonment for illegal possession of an AK-47, and issued threats to riddle everyone with bullets.

Ranjan Kumar has urged authorities to investigate the social media accounts involved and take strict action under the Information Technology (IT) Act.

Copies of the complaint have also been sent to senior officials, including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and the Cyber Crime Police unit in Muzaffarpur.

Meanwhile, the case has taken a turn with a counter-complaint filed by Mukund Kumar, who has accused the MLA and his supporters of forcibly entering his home and assaulting him.

Confirming developments, Mithanpura Police Station SHO Ajay Kumar stated that two FIRs have been registered as per instructions from senior officers. One lodged by MLA Ranjan Kumar and another lodged by Mukund Kumar.

He added that the investigation will rely on digital evidence and statements from eyewitnesses.

Police have clarified that both sides’ allegations are being examined impartially, and further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
