Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, has expressed deep grief over the tragic stampede at the Shitla Devi Temple that claimed several lives on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred in Bihar Sharif in Nalanda district when a large number of devotees had gathered at the temple, leading to chaos and a stampede-like situation. Several people were killed and many others sustained injuries in the incident.
Expressing his condolences, the Chief Minister said he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives and extended his sympathies to the bereaved families. The state government has announced financial assistance of ₹6 lakh for the families of each deceased victim. The compensation will include ₹4 lakh from the Disaster Management Department and ₹2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Nitish Kumar has also directed district authorities and health officials to ensure proper and immediate medical treatment for all those injured in the stampede. He instructed officials to closely monitor the situation and provide all necessary support to the victims and their families.Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit has been instructed to initate a probe into the incident and submit a report to the government.
