Lucknow, Oct 26 A resident of Bihar has been arrested for duping aspirants after offering help in securing admission to medical colleges through a company he had established in Lucknow.

The man was arrested on Wednesday near Gomti Nagar station on the basis of a tip-off.

“Three cases have been registered in Vibhuti Khand Gomti Nagar police station against the man identified as Shashi Singh (22), a Patna resident and his enterprise, S Group company. We are searching for his associates,” said the police.

ADCP (East Zone) Syed Abbas Ali said that "Singh used to lure those who had a poor score in the NEET exam”.

During interrogation, Shashi told police that along with his aides Rajeev Singh and Prem Prakash Vidyarthi, his company collected data of students who had failed the NEET examination.

He also named another man Ashok Kumar who supported him in the fraudulent business.

After getting the list of contacts, the candidate’s family members were contacted through tele callers and offered admission to leading medical colleges.

Later, they got money transferred from them through cheque and RTGS to Saraswati Charitable Trust, and Sanaka Educational and S Group and fled with the money.
