A Special Investigation Team (SIT) will investigate the shooting in Bilaspur where former Congress MLA Bumber Thakur was injured. The Chief Minister's Office announced that the SIT will be headed by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Central Range and supervised by Additional Director General (ADG) Gyaneshwar Singh. On Holi, unknown attackers shot at Thakur at his Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh home. His bodyguard and another person were also injured. Thakur, who is recovering at IGMC Shimla Hospital, claims drug dealers were behind the attack.

Thakur told ANI, "Drug traffickers shot at me. They did it." He also said that some local leaders are protecting these criminals and even tried to get his son involved with drugs. He stated, "Local leaders and drug smugglers in Bilaspur have become powerful brokers. Their property should be taken away, and they should be given the death penalty."

Thakur is worried about his family's safety and has asked the Chief Minister to provide them with security. He added, "I have security, but my family needs protection too. I have applied for a gun license, but the Home Secretary hasn't approved it yet. If I had a gun, I might have been able to defend myself. I ask the Chief Minister to approve it quickly."

Earlier, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu visited Thakur at IGMC Shimla to see how he was doing and wish him a fast recovery. Sukhu told the media that Thakur is getting the best medical care and is safe.
