Rohtak, April 25 Following the resignation of Rajya Sabha MP, Raghav Chadha, and six other Members of Parliament from the AAP to join the BJP, AAP leader Anurag Dhanda on Saturday alleged that the BJP is acting out of fear due to the party's growing influence, particularly in Gujarat.

Speaking to IANS, Dhanda claimed that AAP’s rapid expansion has unsettled the ruling party. “The BJP is afraid of the Aam Aadmi Party. The way AAP is rapidly progressing in Gujarat has unnerved them,” he said. He further accused the BJP of attempting to weaken AAP through investigative agencies, intimidation, and alleged coercion of party members.

Dhanda also alleged restrictions on AAP’s digital presence, claiming that social media accounts linked to the party in Gujarat, including Instagram and Facebook handles, have been blocked. “This is an attack on freedom of speech. They want to silence us, but no matter what they do, they cannot stop Arvind Kejriwal,” he added.

Drawing parallels with India’s freedom struggle, Dhanda invoked figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Bhagat Singh, stating that history remembers those who resist oppression rather than those who compromise.

He also mentioned that AAP leader Sanjay Singh has written to the Rajya Sabha Chairperson seeking termination of membership of MPs who have joined the BJP, arguing that they no longer have the legal right to remain in the Upper House.

Earlier, Chadha formally announced his move to the BJP on Friday. The Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab stated that more than two-thirds of AAP’s members in the Upper House have decided to merge with the BJP under constitutional provisions.

Addressing a press conference alongside party colleagues, Chadha said, “We, the two-thirds members belonging to AAP in the Rajya Sabha, have decided to exercise provisions of the Constitution of India and merge ourselves with the BJP.”

The development comes after months of reported tensions between the AAP leadership and Chadha.
