Internal consultations are underway within the BJP regarding the selection of Delhi’s new chief minister. Senior party leaders are expected to hold a meeting after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his foreign visit to finalize the decision. Indications suggest that the party may opt against appointing a deputy chief minister, a departure from its approach in several other states.
A senior BJP leader stated that the party's top brass is carefully evaluating its options, with a final decision expected soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his four-day visit to France and the US.

Asked if the party will be picking any deputy chief minister as it has recently in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, he said it is unlikely. The new chief minister will be most likely from among the MLAs, he added. In the outgoing AAP government, Manish Sisodia served as deputy to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for several years before resigning following his arrest in the alleged excise scam case. The BJP ousted AAP in the February 5 elections, marking its return to power in Delhi after 26 years by securing 48 out of 70 assembly seats.
