Kolkata, June 25 An elderly man's body was found on Thursday hanging from a tree in Kolkata's Mayo road, police said.

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the matter to find out if it was a case of suicide or there was any foul play behind the incident.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

According to police sources, the man hanged himself from the tree with a gamchha' (traditional cotton towel).

"The body will be sent for the postmortem. An unnatural death (UD) case has been filed," sources said.
