Patna, Dec 27 In response to the ongoing protests by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates, the Commission has firmly said that the 70th Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024, will not be cancelled.
Rajesh Kumar Singh, the BPSC Examination Controller, confirmed this decision, emphasising that while a few individuals are demanding the cancellation of the entire examination, the commission has received numerous emails from other candidates urging that the exam would not be cancelled and re-examination should proceed as scheduled.
Singh addressed the claims of the protesting students, asserting that they have not provided any substantial proof to support their allegations, which he described as "fabricated".
"The re-examination will take place on January 4, 2025, and candidates can download their admit cards from January 2, 2025. It will be organised at different locations," he said.
Singh also added that the ruckus occurred only at the Bapu Examination Centre on December 13, where a small number of candidates raised issues.
However, he noted that 911 other centres had no complaints.
"Out of the 3.28 lakh candidates who took the exam on December 13, only about 2,000 candidates are protesting, without any evidence of irregularities at other centres. The commission cannot risk delaying or cancelling the exam for the sake of a few protestors, particularly when the majority of candidates are not raising concerns," Singh said.
He added that the commission is preparing the re-examination for those candidates who appeared at the Bapu Examination Centre, and for the main exam, which is scheduled for April 2025.
The results of the 70th BPSC examination are likely to be declared by the last week of January 2025.
Addressing the recent cane charge on the protesting students, Singh expressed regret but said that the area surrounding the BPSC office is a prohibited zone for protests.
"The district administration had designated Gardanibagh as the location for the protests, where students are expected to follow the established guidelines," he added.
Singh said the BPSC is committed to ensuring that the examination process continues without disruption while managing the protests in accordance with the law and order guidelines.
