New Delhi, May 18 Chaos erupted near the Bhajanpura Metro Station in Northeast Delhi after a moving car suddenly caught fire on Monday. According to reports, the driver was on his way to attend to an urgent task when smoke began to emerge from the vehicle, and to everyone's horror, the car was quickly engulfed in a massive blaze.

Within moments, the fire spread through the entire vehicle, turning it into a blazing fireball. Panic gripped people present at the scene as flames and thick smoke were visible from a considerable distance.

According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), a short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire, though there has been no official confirmation yet. Upon receiving information about the incident, a fire department team rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after strenuous efforts.

Fortunately, the driver managed to step out of the vehicle just in time, preventing any loss of life. However, the car was completely reduced to ashes in the incident.

The Fire Control Room received a call regarding the incident at around 7:30 a.m. A fire tender was immediately dispatched to the location, and firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze. Officials confirmed that the driver remained safe.

Earlier, on May 15, at least 10 cars and two scooters were gutted after a fire broke out at an MCD parking lot in Bihari Colony in Delhi’s Shahdara area.

Firefighters had managed to douse the blaze after sustained efforts, police said.

The fire triggered panic in the locality as flames rapidly spread from one vehicle to another. However, officials confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident.

Police personnel also reached the spot and cordoned off the area to facilitate firefighting operations and prevent onlookers from approaching the site.

Several videos of the incident surfaced on social media, showing vehicles engulfed in flames and dense smoke rising from the parking area.
