New Delhi/Hazaribagh, April 25 The CBI conducted searches at the home of a Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) manager arrested in a corruption case in Hazaribagh, recovering Rs 21 lakh cash, jewellery, property papers and other digital evidence, an official said on Saturday.

Ravi Ranjan Kumar, arrested on Thursday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh, was produced in a Special CBI Court in Ranchi that remanded him to judicial custody, the CBI said in a statement.

The CBI said that the role of other officials of CWC is also being investigated as part of the corruption case.

The probe agency registered a corruption case against Kumar on April 23, the statement said.

The complainant had alleged that a bribe was sought in exchange for allowing him to continue work that had already been awarded to him, the CBI said.

Taking note of the serious complaint, the probe agency initiated swift action and set up a trap to catch the accused in the act of accepting a bribe.

During the operation, CBI officials reportedly caught Kumar red-handed while he was accepting the bribe amount of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant. According to the press release, the successful trap confirmed the complainant's allegations.

Officials stated that such action demonstrated the agency’s continued commitment to tackling corruption in public sector undertakings and ensuring accountability among government officials.

Kumar’s arrest was part of ongoing efforts to curb malpractice and promote transparency in administrative processes, said the CBI official.

The probe agency said that further investigations into the case are continuing to determine whether additional individuals were involved or if there is a broader pattern of corrupt practices linked to the accused.

The authorities have not ruled out further legal action as the probe progresses, the CBI said.
