Kolkata, May 10 As the investigation into the murder of Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, is underway the investigators say the car used in the murder was brought from Jharkhand and money was sent online from that car, a senior police officer said on Sunday.

The search for the accused is underway based on that source. However, no one has been arrested yet.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the West Bengal Police to investigate Chandranath's murder.

It also includes police officers from the Special Task Force (STF) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the Intelligence department of the state police.

Representatives of the investigation team have gone to Uttar Pradesh to search for the accused.

The investigators are hopeful that all these sources will soon lead to Chandranath's killer and the culprits will be caught quickly.

At the same time, the police have collected CCTV footage from the Bali toll plaza which is being examined.

Since the money was paid online through UPI, efforts are being made to collect more information from there.

According to police officers, several people are being questioned in connection with the murder case.

Chandranath was shot dead in Madhyamgram of North 24 Parganas district on the night of May 6.

A four-wheeler came in front of Chandranath's car following which his car stopped.

At that time, miscreants came riding on two bikes from both sides and fired gunshots at Chandranath and his driver due to which the personal assistant of Suvendu Adhikari died on the spot.

Chandranath's driver is still in the hospital.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has levelled allegations against the Trinamool Congress in the incident. However, Trinamool has issued a statement condemning the incident and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation under the supervision of the court.

According to the police, the plan to kill Chandranath had been hatched at least a month and a half ago.

It is being seen who could have had a reason to kill him at that time, and whether Chandranath had a quarrel with anyone.

The police confiscated the car used in the murder on the day of the incident.

The number plate on the car is fake following which two bikes of the miscreants were also recovered.

According to the police, the number plates of these bikes are also fake. This was done with the intention of misleading the investigation.
