In Tamil Nadu, Acharapakkam police made a successful intervention at the Athur toll plaza, intercepting a container truck involved in the illegal transport of 39 cows from Andhra Pradesh to Kerala. The animals were discovered in appalling conditions, without access to water, fodder, or ventilation, highlighting the inhumane practices of the smugglers.

The truck, owned by Samsudeen and driven by Shanmuga Sundaram, was stopped at the toll plaza. Both individuals were arrested on the spot, and further investigation is underway to uncover the full scope of the illegal operation. The authorities have vowed to take stringent action to prevent such incidents in the future and to protect animal welfare.

Meanwhile, in Haryana, Nuh police launched a daring operation after receiving intelligence about a cattle smuggling ring operating along an unpaved route near the Gurnawat railway line toward Rajasthan. The Tauru Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) set up barricades to intercept a vehicle suspected to be used by smugglers. When the police signalled the vehicle to stop at a checkpoint, the suspects attempted to ram through the barricades and fled the scene.

During the ensuing chase, the smugglers opened fire on the police, prompting a retaliatory response from law enforcement. The clash resulted in three smugglers being injured, while three others managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

The police managed to seize a Tata 407 truck, believed to be used for transporting cattle, and recovered five cows, as well as illegal weapons, including a 12-bore gun, a country-made pistol, 11 live cartridges, and a knife from the arrested individuals. The suspects were part of the notorious Adwani gang, known for smuggling cattle across various states.
