Chhattisgarh: A major fire broke out at the unit of the Bhilai Steel Plant in Durg district on Tuesday April 7, 2026. This tragic incident occurred around 10 am in the STG (Steam Turbo Generator) -4 turbine unit of the plant located in Bhilai city in which seven workers got injured. 

According to reports, a sudden fire led to heavy smoke spreading across the turbine hall, a plant. Following an alert, the plant's fire brigade responded immediately, dispatching three fire tenders to quickly control the blaze.

Seven workers sustained injuries, some fire-related, and were taken to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Bhilai for treatment, according to a hospital doctor. An investigation is underway to determine the fire's cause and assess the damage.
