Raipur, May 14 In a major success for anti-insurgency operations in Chhattisgarh, a joint team of security forces recovered and safely neutralised a significant cache of improvised explosive devices and other munitions along the Kanker-Narayanpur district border.

The discovery occurred during a targeted search operation conducted in the dense forested stretches of Domanj, Amakol, and Gattakal.

This area, known for its challenging terrain and historical Maoist presence, has recently seen intensified patrolling by the Kanker Police and specialised units to ensure regional stability, police officials said.

The recovered haul provides a stark look into the sophisticated nature of insurgent warfare in the Bastar division.

The seizure included two high-pressure cooker improvised explosive devices and two pipe improvised explosive devices, both of which are commonly used to target security convoys.

Additionally, the forces found five petrol bombs and an alarming quantity of 50 Barrel Grenade Launcher rounds.

The recovery was further bolstered by the discovery of Cordtex detonation cord and extensive electrical wiring, suggesting the site was being used as a staging ground or a hidden dump for upcoming operations.

Recognising the immediate threat posed by the high-grade explosives, the bomb disposal squad moved in swiftly to neutralise the devices on the spot.

The precision of the operation reflects the high level of coordination between local intelligence and ground teams.

This achievement comes amid a broader push by the state administration to secure the Kanker-Narayanpur border and dismantle Maoist logistics networks.

Senior officials commended the alertness of the personnel involved, noting that the recovery of such a large quantity of Barrel Grenade Launcher rounds and petrol bombs significantly hampers the tactical capabilities of local insurgent cadres.

As search operations continue in the sensitive forest belts, the Kanker Police remain on high alert to prevent any retaliatory actions and to ensure the safety of the local tribal population living in these remote border regions.
