Patna, April 30 A road accident in Bihar's Khagaria has claimed three lives after a gravel-laden truck lost control and overturned onto an auto-rickshaw on National Highway-31, police officials said on Thursday.

The incident occurred near Gauchhari village under the Maheshkhunt police station area early Thursday morning.

Among the deceased are a CISF jawan Bipin Chaurasia and his wife Deepmala Chaurasia, and a driver of the three-wheeler.

All three occupants of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot due to the impact, as the vehicle was completely crushed under the overturned Hyva truck.

The accident triggered chaos in the area, with local residents rushing to the site and initiating rescue efforts.

Upon receiving information, police teams arrived and, with the help of villagers, worked to pull out those trapped beneath the wreckage.

According to preliminary information, CISF jawan Bipin Chaurasia -- a resident of Maliya village under Gogri police station limits -- had been home on leave with his wife.

The couple had set out around 5 a.m. for the railway station to return to duty when the accident occurred, turning what should have been a routine journey into a devastating tragedy.

Police officials said that initial investigations point to the truck losing control as the primary cause of the accident.

The vehicle overturned suddenly, crushing the auto-rickshaw beneath it.

The intensity of the collision underscores the severity of the mishap.

The news of the couple's death has cast a pall of grief over their native village.

Locals described Bipin Chaurasia as a devoted family man, and his untimely demise -- along with that of his wife -- has left the entire community in shock and mourning.

Authorities have begun a detailed investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and any possible negligence.

An FIR under relevant sections of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the driver of the truck, who is absconding after the accident.

The district police are making efforts to arrest him.
