The 23-member team, which includes three women personnel, will be led by Delhi Metro Deputy Inspector General of Police Raghubir Lal. The aim is to hoist the Tri-Colour along with the CISF flag on the 7,075-m Mount Satopanth.
"The expedition to Satopanth will provide the CISF team members adequate pre-Mount Everest expedition experience and also condition the team well for the Mount Everest expedition to be carried out in March-April 2020," Ranjan said.
Talking to , Assistant Commandant Ashoka Nandini Mohanti, who is a part of the mountaineering team, said that the team of 30 CISF personnel which includes six women personnel, underwent rigorous training at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering And Allied Sports (ABVIMAS) in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, from April 18 to May 10.
"During the 23-day training period the team also climbed a peak in Himachal Pradesh," she said.
Batting for more women personnel to be a part of such adventure activities, the lady officer said that women have the quality to do multi-tasking and they are "multi-skilled and adventurous".
Besides Mohanti, the other female personnel in the team are Sub Inspector Geeta Samota and Constable Apoorva Bora.
The team will leave for the expedition on August 10 and has one member each from the Border Security Force and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force. Besides scaling, the team will also clean the Himalayas.
Mohanti said that last year the CISF carried out a cleanliness drive on the Chandrashila at 13,000 ft and collected four tonnes of solid wastes that were left by previous mountaineering teams. The CISF became the first force to carry out the cleaning campaign.
Ranjan also inaugurated the CISF residential complex and Water Conservation Plan (Jal Shakti Abhiyan) at the Rohini residential complex of the CISF Delhi Metro Unit here.
The force has been initiating awareness among the general public towards 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan', Ranjan said. Moreover, the Home Ministry has also nominated CISF as the nodal agency amongst the CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces).
"The CISF was no more an urban force and it now has its presence in Uri, Bandipora and Gurez in J&K (Jammu and Kashmir) also," Ranjan said.
